This month (August 2020), I just hit my second ever five-figure cash month in my coaching business.
The best part? I didn’t have to get on any sales calls or sign any long-term clients.
You’re probably wondering how I was able to book out 5 figures in cash without ever getting on a sales call! Don’t worry, we will get there!
First, my name is Simone McNish and I am a bonafide sales machine. Lol, kidding! I am just a business + diversity coach with a passion for helping women get visible, paid, and diversify their offer + audience.
I do 90% of my business on Instagram and I don’t do any “hard sales” tactics. I show up, sell my stuff, and get paid! Also, did I mention I am currently 32 weeks pregnant mama with a preschooler in the house? Yep, better believe it!
Enough about me, let’s get to the juicy stuff. You would think it is impossible to land a $10k+ month with no sales calls, but let me break down how I was able to bring in major moolah this month.
Having a launch plan in place
In August, I knew exactly what I was launching on what day, every single day of the month. While I didn’t show up every single day, I did plan it so I could show up effectively when I wanted to sell. The first week of August was all about a joint workshop that I ran with my OBM, Kirsten, and it led to a nice early-month cash injection.
Then, I transitioned into launching a 6 group program. I had my waitlist emails + graphics ready to go, so I could just focus on showing up with some live energy on weekly IG lives. I like to plan out 80% of my email content and IG content, so I can just know when to show up and have things run on autopilot.
Making it easy to purchase on a sales page + having boundaries in place
Part of running things on autopilot means that I make it very easy to buy from me. I put the waitlist opt-in page or sales page for anything that I am currently promoting in my IG bio. My audience can read all the information about the program, so I have to answer fewer questions and see exciting PayPal notifications roll in. It is a one-stop click for you to see what I am currently offering and if I am in-between promotions, I have a nice “IG links” page where people can join my waitlists for upcoming programs.
I decided to stop doing sales calls for group programs and 1:1s and just make it easy to book via IG. I always welcome questions from serious potential clients, but I no longer have the energetic capacity to get on a 30-minute “discovery call” with people who are not serious.
I also have a lot of boundaries in place around free coaching in the DMs (it is a no-no) and getting paid for my time and energy.
Basically, if it is not easy for me, or if it doesn’t bring me joy, then I don’t do it. Following me? Good!
Outsourcing tasks I don’t enjoy to my team
Ooh, this one is a biggie! In order for me to be in my highest earning energy, I made a conscious decision to outsource tasks that I hate.
I currently outsource scheduling YouTube videos, formatting blog posts, social media graphics, scheduling emails, sending invoices, and so much more. Basically, I love to create content and show up on video - so that is all I do.
It is not cheap to outsource as much as I do, BUT it is worth it for me because I focus on things like launch planning and creating profitable programs that make me money. This helps me stay creatively in my zone of genius and focus on #chasingchecks!
Recurring revenue (aka payment plans)
One of my favourite ways to bring in more steady income is recurring revenue! I was able to hit another five-figure income month with ease because I was able to create payment plans from my mastermind and from my group program. I secretly LOVE when a new client selects a payment plan because it means more income coming in later!
I also love income stacking, which is launching back to back, in order to create more income in your business. Perfect if you are trying to stack cash before a major life event (like having a baby!) or if you are simply excited about the new things you are launching!
Being aligned with my offers
This is one of the MOST important ways to hit a 5 figure month in your business - be excited and aligned with what you are selling! It sounds so simple, but we have a tendency to make things hard.
Here’s a general rule of thumb: if you aren’t excited by it or aren’t lit up by it, it is time to pivot or fix your offer!
Being aligned to me means that I can’t stop talking about my offer because it makes me so dang excited! I only launch things that I stand 110% behind and make me extremely proud.
Taking time off when I needed it
Lastly, the thing that helped me create another 5 figure month was resting. I have created a BOMB.COM CEO schedule where I only coach 4-6 days a month. I find this to be incredibly helpful for when I need to take a nap or focus on my family.
I take coaching calls every other week on Tuesdays and Thursdays and I find I give my clients my best energy when I am well-rested. As I prepare for baby #2, I might have to tweak the schedule based on childcare, but for now, I am loving it!
I let myself take a day off launching here and there because I know that I don’t need to always be in launch mode in order to receive more income in my business.
So that is how I created another 5 figure month in my business! It doesn’t have to be extremely difficult, it just involves having a solid plan, showing up for your audience and making it easy to buy from you.
