The Interview.

Tell us about your business and how got started

I work as a hypnotherapist and help people to release old habits and beliefs so they can step into their highest selves. Our minds are so powerful and it's up to us to either choose to take control or become victim to our limiting thoughts and beliefs. Hypnosis is a super powerful tool to help you make that lasting change.  My first experience with hypnotherapy was when I tried it myself. I was looking to clear some of my own blocks that were holding me back in my business and improve my confidence overall.  Fast forward a few sessions later and I was on fire! After seeing the amazing results within myself, I started to research and learn more about hypnotherapy - for curiosity's sake only at the time. The more I learned, the more I became obsessed with it. I started doing sessions with family and friends just to experiment and once I saw the amazing results within them too, I was hooked.  I am now a Certified Hypnotherapist and have helped my clients to build unshakeable confidence, improve their money mindset, lose weight, create healthy habits, and take control of their thoughts and ultimately their lives. I'm so in love with my work and the power it has to transform people's lives.

Who introduced you to entrepreneurship?

While in University, I worked part-time at a real estate office and this was my first introduction to entrepreneurship. I found it fascinating that there was no limit to what they can make...and some of them made a lot of money! It was here I decided when I graduated I would have to work for myself.

How did you get started in entrepreneurship?

I actually started as a real estate agent. When I graduated from University, I was working in a real estate office and quite closely with a successful agent and learned so much about the industry. I saw the potential and wasn't sure what else to do, so I got my real estate license and hit the ground running. I had an amazing first year and many of the experienced agents were shocked how much I was able to do while being so young and inexperienced, but I worked my butt off and ultimately lead myself into exhaustion...I learned so many valuable skills about sales, self-development, and what it means to work for yourself, but real estate just wasn't my calling - my husband is a real estate agent though (we met on the job lol) so I'm still surrounded by and will always be interested in the real estate world.

Biggest Struggle In Entrepreneurship? My biggest struggle (which I'm learning is my strength) is that I tend to pivot a lot in my business. From real estate to yoga, to business coaching and now hypnosis, I sometimes can't believe I have moved through all of the careers that I have. Starting a new business is hard for anyone. It's even harder when you are starting all over again in different industries as I have a couple of times now. Because of this, I've done a lot of online marketing work to supplement my income. This took a ton of financial pressure off of those new businesses and gave me space to grow and invest in myself without stressing about paying the bills.

Biggest Win In Entrepreneurship?

The amazing sense of fulfillment I get from hearing my clients' success stories. Doing this work lights me up inside and gives me the energy and motivation to keep learning more so I can help more clients. The money milestones are always fun, but there is nothing like being in love with your work.

Favourite way to celebrate your wins?

Travel! I love being able to work from anywhere and plan to take full advantage for the rest of my life.

What Inspires you?

My clients, my family and my future self. I'm constantly daydreaming about my goals, my vacation homes, my thriving business and all of the women am I able to help step into their highest selves.

What is Your Morning Routine?

My absolute must-haves are journaling my gratitudes and goals, and either listening to a guided hypnosis or meditation depending on what I am focusing on. If I have the time, I'll go to a 7 am hot yoga class at least a few times a week.

3 Lessons You Have Learned In Business

1 - Stop overthinking and start doing! Real growth can only come from taking action. 2 - Entrepreneurship requires constant self-development. Every new level will require a new mindset shift, and often your income growth moves in relation to your personal growth. 3 - Have fun along the way! I love making big scary goals, but remember to be grateful and enjoy what you have along the way or you'll never be happy.

Favourite Social Media Platform To Be Social On

Tips For SECURING THE BAG (making that money Hunny!)

Consistency! It's easy when you're your own boss to say 'I'll do that tomorrow' or 'no one will notice if I don't post a video this week'...but your results will always show it! You have to be committed to showing up when no one is watching you. Try and set a schedule of what you do and when so that working on your business is in your calendar, just like going to your job would be or any important appointment. Your goals are so important and so possible, you just have to commit to them.

What is something you wish you knew that you know now when you started your business?

I thought about this for a while and there are so many things, but above all know that 'you are enough'. I may have appeared confident on the outside my whole life but on the inside, I was a nervous wreck in my business! It's only now that I realized I am enough, I always was enough, and that life and business is all a journey, not a destination so enjoy every minute of it. Stop comparing yourself to everyone else. No one is you. Your personality could be the thing that makes your next client choose you over someone with more experience/expertise/money or whatever! Start showing up as the real you and compete with yourself.

What would you say to someone who looking to start their own business but scared?

Start anyways! There will never be a perfect time and you'll never feel ready enough. The most valuable learning comes from taking action. Even if its scared, messy action, it will get you so much further than all your research and preparing ever will. Learn to get comfortable being uncomfortable because that's where all of the growth happens.

What is your favourite Girl Boss quote and why?

"The universe doesn't respond to what you want, it responds to who you are." More than anything you have to believe and show up as the person who already has what you want. Want a successful business? How would a successful business owner show up for herself? What would she wear? Who would she talk to? What habits does she have? Start to embody the person who has what you want and watch the magic unfold.
