Heather is the Founder of Pretty Wigs For You and Helper Hair Box. What inspired us to reach out to Heather to be part of the Social Babes Co Fall 2020 Campaign was her mission behind her brand. We are so inspired by this woman and her mission to help others, especially children, feel confident during their hair loss journey. We hope you enjoy getting to know her better in this blog-style interview.
Tell us about your business and how got started?
I introduced myself to entrepreneurship. I have always wanted to do more. I have always had a full-time job and a side hustle. I have been learning as I have been going on this wonderful entrepreneur ride! I have a condition called alopecia, that I have had since the age of 3. It is a condition that makes your hair fall out. I have since made it my life's mission to help others feel beautiful about their hair loss. Since I have worn wigs for over 20 years, I decided to start my own company so I could use my experience to help others like me. The second part of my business is called the Helper Hair Box. This is a subscription box for women and children with hair loss. It is filled with helpful and inspirational items to help them with their hair loss. I donate a box to a child with hair loss for every 6 boxes sold and I donate a wig to a child for every 12 boxes sold. It is my way of giving back to the children in the hair-loss community.
Who introduced you to entrepreneurship?
I introduced myself to entrepreneurship. I have always wanted to do more. I have always had a full-time job and a side hustle. I have been learning as I have been going on this wonderful entrepreneur ride!
How did you get started in entrepreneurship?
I had an awakening one day, that the reason why I am here on earth, is to help others, especially children, feel beautiful about their hair loss. There was a reason that my hair fell out, and this is it. To be a business owner and role model for others with hair loss.
Biggest Struggle In Entrepreneurship?
Time! I need a few extra hours in the day to get everything done. Being a mom of 3, a wife and taking care of a house and 2 businesses is challenging. Even though I have my team helping me, I still find it challenging to get it all done, while not feeling the mom guilt.
Biggest Win In Entrepreneurship?
Proving to myself that I could do it, and be successful at doing it! Since January I have opened my wig boutique, became an Amazon #1 best selling contributing author, ran a successful kickstarter campaign that got backed 109%, launched a subscription box business and I was able to donate so many Helper Hair Boxes and wigs to children.
Favourite way to celebrate your wins?
I celebrate every win in my business! I do a happy dance and literally sing and dance in my living room “Happy Dance, Happy Dance” even my kids join in!
What Inspires you?

What is Your Morning Routine?
Ugh, I know you are expecting me to say, I get up at 5 am and meditate and do yoga. No! I’m a night owl, I stay up most nights till 130am working on my business. My assistant is in the Philippines and we are usually working on projects together. I do my best thinking at night, I meditate at night when the world is quiet. My mornings usually go like this: 6am I’m in a deep sleep, dreaming of getting a face massage, until I open my eyes and my 3-year-old is driving his toy car on my face asking for a snack. Hey at least its 5.5 hours of sleep 😊
